WASTE LAND BOARD.

The following business, of district importance, was transacted at a meeting of the Waste Land Board, held at the Provincial Buildino-s on Tuesday, December 3.1*1,. Thero were" prc-saut Messrs Tolmie, Duncan, Hughes, and Thomson.

A notice under i 24 clause of Otago Waste Land Act, 1368, from J, D. Eemud, requiring the Board to cancel his lease and pay compensation for improvements effected on.~sect.ions 33 to 40, block 2, Leaning Rock, was referred to the Government. TKe Rale'iof 34, Sutton district, and sections l'to7, block in same locality, amounting to .1, 924- acres alraa'ty surveyed into sections of from 50 tnVl7 arros, was approved.

Kir h\ D. Bell requested that the reserve should be removed from sections 35, 36/ and 40, Waihemo, and" 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, and 51, Danback district. The.-matter was referred to the Warden of the district.

Aii application, made by the Hon.' iv. Campbell, to amend plan of survey as per sketch Submitted, was granted on the same condition as original application. I Messrs-W. Wl I Mders applied for Mr. hAfmal application, which wadsr .1000 acres, and was opposed on the ground that a portion of it was'auriferous. : The applicant now proposes to abandon about 5300 acres of original application supposed to be auriferous, and take up an equal area lying south of Black Hill and Trig. Station.ll, and bounded by •- the "Waitaki and Otaeki rivers.

. Mr. 1 Watson~Snennan applied for, a lease of, coal area on Douglas and Co.'s run, with the runholder's "consent. The application was grauted, the conditions beiug £5 per annum for 5 acre s and the coal to be delivered at the jyifc's month at 15s per ton.
