A LADY TARRED AND FEATHERED.
A"n~~fncident has - occurred at the " beiWiful which should o; eratf' a* a wai mng, t«» J all fascinating married ladies " It that a)-' Mrs N'tsiswendep, the',wife of, .a farmer, residing a.Jttjle way out of the. city, had the 'misfortune to be inordinately r admired by several married men in the neighborhood. We are not tedd how many l&qhelors fell Under her £ewitchinggla(n|es, but this.is of no eqn sequence, as sue!) sufferers are not t ntii led to no "sorfcpf pity.. The married ladies, however, were bent upon revenge; but instead of wreaking.it upon their husbands, which they would have, a, perfeet wright to (10, they resolved . to make Mr Neiswender feel the weight of their accumulated anger. Four in-cettHed-Hifttrons-accordingly met by appoiutment one morning, and as the report, in a brjsk, business,., like tone observes, having. provided with "tar,-turpelitine, ropers, feathers, and cayenne pepper, started for the residence of the seductive Mrs Neiswender." Unfortunately that' lady was alone when they reached the house, and of course she proved powerless against such terrible odds. She was not only (stripped and tarred and feathered fiom head : tP heel, but it is alleged that her unwomanly assailants nibbed r v "nose and eves. Two of the women, who appear to have done the lion's share of the work, are now awaiting their trial in f gaol, and'the'reporter naively observes that the whole gang have earned a reputation " such as few respectable Kansas ladies would care to acquire." If incensed ladies will participate in demonstrations of physical violence, it would be much more becoming if they would select their, victims from among the baser sex. If they would leave their fairer sisters alone, and concentrate their aiifTpitthies upon wife''"beat-' ■ers, and other miserable sinners, we might perhaps reap snuie benefit..from theirmasealine aetivirv/
