A gentleman at Shortland received a letter recently from a correspondent at Tapuaeharuru, near Lake. Taupo, in which the writer says :—Aivaequaiu.tance of mine, an old West Coast digger, started yesterday to see the Superiiiterident. From time to time we I hear reports of tho existence of allu- , yial in the 1 caliiy indicate 1, and j it. is nounlikely- that this discovery ■'muy lead to important results.
