MARRIAGE OF THE EMPEROR OF CHINA.

The approaching marriage of the Emperor of China has already been announced. 'Regarding the auspicious event the ' Pekin Gazette * writes : "The Empress Dowager publishes three decrees—the first naming the Empress elect, the second appointing three other Indies.to be members'of the harem, and the. third ordering the Astronomical Board to select a iucky day in October for the celebration of the marriage. The name of the lady whom fate and the Empresses have selected for this supreme honor is Alute. She is Mongol by descent—her father, Chungehi, a junior officer of the Hswilin College, being son of Saishanga,, a. Mongol mandarin, who helii office -at the beginning of the last reign, and her mother is a daughter of the late Taunhua, Prince .of Cheng, who was a prominent member of the anti-foreign party that held sway during the closing years of but was overthrown by Prince Kung and the Empresses in November, 1861:"' One of the other three ladies is a daughter of the above Saishanga, and, therefore, an aunt of the Empress—rather a curious admixture of relationship ; the other two are daughters of subordinate officials of no particular .note. : ,' ■• ■
