THE HOUNDBURN HILL DEVIATION PETITION.
REPOBT OP SELECT COMMITTEE.
Four Committee having, carefully considered the report of Mr. Barr, Provincial Engineer, remitted to them for perusal, by the Government, find that the road to a certain point, viz., to avoid the Honndburn Hill, recommended by Mr. Olliver, is the same as that desired by the petitioners, and would recommend that this portion of it should be constructed without delay.
Your Committee are also unanimous!y of opinion that the line of road recommended by the District Engineer (Mr. Olliver) is the best, least expensive, and calculated to give the greatest amount of accommodation to the public generally.
Your Committee are further of opinion that, in the present state of the finances of the Province, it would be impossible for the Government to spend the amount desired by the petitioners in constructing the road the whole way to Naseby, but would recommend the same to the favorable consideration of th e Government. D. H. MERVEN. Chairman.
