(From our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, Thursday, 3.50 p.m. The latest telegrams from Wellington state that the meeting of the General Assembly ia further postponed till the 29th prox. An Auckland telegram of yes'terday states that a fine new leader has been struck on the Caledonian claim, near the Young American Company's ground.
Caledonian shares have in consequence risen to £27.
The same telegram says that twentyfive new mining companies were gazetted during the last four days. At the Mayor's Court, yesterday, E. B. Martin and J. T. Mackerras, wholesale merchants, were fined for having over sixty gallons of kerosene on their premises, and the quantity they had in excess was forfeited.
The amount of kerosene in excess which was forfeited amounted in all to 264 gallons—Mr. Martin, 128 gallons ; Mr. Mackerras, 136 gallons.
