Late telegrams from Wellington state: Mr. Haughton is appointed Commissioner of Groldfields Water Supply for Otago. The ' Independent' says the appointment is an honorary one, and that Mr. O'Neill will probably receive a similar appointment for Auckland. Both are so arranged as to avoid bringing their recipients under the Disqualification Act. The ' Tuapeka Times * mentions as an on dit, that the Q-overnment intend adopting the recommendation of the Groldfields Commission to shift the Wardens. New gold discoveries have been made in the northeast of Adelaide.
