CORRESPONDENCE.

Vve do not hold, ourselves in any way respon.sible for the viewg and sentiments ex- , pressed by correspondents. Axl communications must be accompanied by the correct name and address of the writer, not necessarily for publication, but as a guarantee of good faith.

(To the Editor of the Mopnt Ida Cheonicle.) Sib,-—I observe that it hasbeen suggested through your columns that an uapnual show.should be held,at Naseby, f and every one to whom I have talked of the matter seem to think that it : would be a great boon to the district—- ;; that, it is the very thing that is wanted , rrrftud that .it would undoubtedly be a : great success; yet, strange to say, every one seems alike inactive, and .! time sljps on. ■ If a show is to be held in the ensuing autumn it is full time, for many reasons, that it should be determined, and a societyformed. ; Probably the people of Naseby consider that all efforts to form a society should come frpm outsiders, but ai an , outsider I cannot " see it." I consider ; that the business people of Naseby should ta,ke as much interest in the movement as they do in their annual races.

, An annual show of live stock, farm produce and other local industries, would have the effect of bringing . amongst you a large number of people —-ot distributing amongst you a considerable sum of money—and, as you are consumers you are as much intei .rested in the matter as producers. Indeed, it Naseby be.not alive to its own interests, and makes a move at once, some other township in our district shall. St.. Bathans, I should think, is even a more central place than Naseby, and the business people there would have no objection to have their town inundated for a few days by a mob of rustics, such as squatters, shepherds, cockatoos, &c., &c., who might leave behind them a few hundreds of their J' rustv guineas."—l am, &c., Fkom the West.
