THE OLD POST OFFICE OFFICIALS.

(To the Editor of the Mount Ida Chbonicxe.)

Sir, —I cannot help expressing my surprise that no steps have been taken by the public of Mount Ida towards raising a sum of money to purchase two testimonials —one for Mr. L. V\T Busch, and another for his assistant, Mr. E. C. Smith, who for some years past have been most untiring in their patience, and attention to all correspondents and enquirers at the postal department. It would be an utter absurdity to argue that their salary has been their reward. The fact is the dispositions of these gentlemen are to be civil and obliging, and they could not act otherwise. I have not only experienced this myself, but have heard from different sources the same opinion. Residents of outlying districts have had often reason to be thankful that Mr. Busch was postmaster, or Mr. Smith his deputy ; and, now that they have up the reins of office, let us join together in presenting to each of them a tribute of our regard. if you will commence with a subscription list I will most gladly place my name un it, and you will know where to find, yours, &c, Eton Boy.
