FHE GOLD DUTY. Mb Bastings moved—" That in the opinion of this Council the present duty upon gold is oppressive upon the mining community of the. Province, and ought to be repealed. Mr. Mervyn moved—"That there be laid on the table a return of the amount of revenue expended on the various (r.ildfields of the Province for a period of three years ending 31st March, 1871; such return to show the amount spent upon the construction of roads, subsidising hospitals, schools, municipalities,athenaeums, prospecting, &c., and also the departmental expenditure." Seconded by Mr. Armstrong. HOSPITAL FOR NASEBY. "When in Committee of Supply, Mr. Mervyn to move —" That an address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent requesting, that he will be pleased to cause the sum of £SOO to be placed on the Supplementary Estimates, for the purpose of establishing an hospital at Naseby. 1 '
