COAL.
(To. the Editor of the Moxnrr Ida Chiokici».) ; Sib,—l was pleased to notice laefc week your observations anent the cur. tailed and irregular supply of coal to the town. lam of opinion that equally fuel to that, obtained from the Kyeburn may be got within a short distance of our own doors. The townspeople were quite out of that necessary on Wednesday, and were begging, one from another, a bucket to tide theni over: the day. One dravman proceeded to the oU pit, about two milks distant, for a load to supply immediate wants. If a party were to sink through the present layer there fur a second seam, it, if found, would be almost sure to prove of superior quality. I have the best of reasons for thinking so, as the coal.at Clyde was bad in the nrst place, but' by sinking deeper a much better quality was found. The suggestion was made by a local geol< - gist of some experience, and the result proved him correct. Query'—ls it right for the residents of this place to stand*bi and take no steps to 'e'scape from th< irregular sup plies from the Kyeburn 1 There, is coal at the Eweburn, also 1 leader on the Hit or Miss Company' water race. I consider a good coa seam would be the best claim on tin am, &c M
