Trie Chairman explained that the ooject of the meeting was to consider tne advisability of petitioning the .War-, flen to direct that all tail water be allowed to flow down the gullies, for the better discharge of tailings fro in those gullies.Hr. farmer proposed, Mr. Sheeay •' s p (, onded—" That the Warden be petitioned, on behalf of the public, to direct all tail water belonging to the different gullies on the Hogburn be Vi permitted to flow down their natural
courses where required." A show of hands was taken, when the resolution "Was declared'unanimously carried. v The Chairman read to the meeting the following petition, prepared by the mining committee, on the subject,and he (the chairman) trusted that every miner in the district, and also those interested in mining, would adhibit their signatures : . "To H. W. Eobinson, Esq., Warden. " We, the undersigned miners on the f Hogburn, pray that you will, in your capacity as Warden ou this Goldfield, direct that all tail water be allowed to flow without hindrance down the natural course of such gully-where tail water - may be available, for the better discharge of tailings from such, gully." After the appending of a number of signatures to the document, and the • "usual vores of thanks to Mr. George, for the use of the Victoria Hall, and/to the/Chai man, the meeting terminated.
