ST. BATHANS.

St. Bathans, April 25, 1870. Yesterday I had my attention drawn to a report of Father Maloney's lecture here, given in the ' Times ' of the 21st inst. No/doubt the writer of that report would not wish to have his. veracity questioned for a trifle, and if I point out a small mistake of his he will be only too glad to make it right. I refer to the last line of his report, which states the proceeds of the lecture to be £.200, which amount is slightly in r excess of the truth—the actual sum being £d 2s. 6d. lam certain that Father Koyer himself, or any of the Catholic Committee, will feel ' grateful for payment to them "of the difference here noticeable. lam so engrossed with the beauty of this idea that I cannot touch on anything else this week.. In conclusion, let me assure your readers that a plain unvarnished narrative of events will be always the most pleasing to persons, whether residing at a distance or on -the spot where those events may have takea plac:?..—A.B.C.

Resitobnt Magistrate's Court.—April 26. (Before H. W. Eobinaon, Esq., E.M.) Police v. E. Murray.—Allowing pigs to be at large. Pined 2s. 6d.' and costs ss. 6d.

Police v. Hanger and police v. Kenny. -—These two cases were exactly similar to the first, and were, dealt with in the same way.

Wabden's Cotjbt.—April 26. (Before H. W. Bobinson, Esq., Warden.) , James Duff's application for agricultural lease of ten acres at Hill's Creek was heard. There were two objectors. G-eorge Turn bull objected that the granting of the lease would stop a road to Pennyweight. It was explained that the land was so laid off as to leave a road-way open. Wm/Wade objected on the same grounds, and also that a small creek or channel running through the ground applied for was at present nsed as a means of discharging tailings. The Warden decided to grant certificate, subject to condition that a. rio-ht to run tailings through the creek channel should be reserved.

The following applications for mining privileges were granted:— ~W. Leitcb, head race, tail race, dam; J. Ewino-, protection. .
