THE MAEREWHENUA GOLDFIELD.
The first Warden's Court on these new diggings was held on the 26th nit. by-.Mr:-.Warden Robinson. The Warden sat in M'Quade's store, which was kindly placed at his disposal by the proprietor. There were no summons cases, nevertheless there was a strong number of the miners and others hav - ing business with the Warden. Several applications for water races were granted, and others adjourned until the next Court day, which the Warden announced would be on the 30th Nov. Although the Court was held in a private place, and no constable was present, the greatest order and decorum prevailed. It is estimated that there are at the present moment about 200 people on the field, of whom about one half are getting gold, the rest being engaged upon the construction of works which cannot be considered immediately reproductive, such as the construction of water races, &c, &c.
