THE BREAD QUESTION.

(To tlie JEditor of the Mouot Ida ChbojsicleJ

Sib, —We have the bread lowered again, as if by niagie. But who nave we to thank for the reduction ? Is it that the bakers have been disappointed by the Clerk of the Weather, in not sending a heavy fall of snow, or some other whitewashed excuse, to enable them to keep their cherished price, Is. 6d. per loaf, for the winter months? No, Mr. Editor, the only motive which has caused them to make the present reduction is, that we are on the eve of having an opposition baker, and it is hoped that he will crush out imposition. Let not the inhabitants of Naseby depend on the sincerity of this reduction; for, if they do so, and turn their backs on our new baker, they may depend upon having the bread raised to its former price again. Should such be the case, the diggers have themselves alone to blame. Let them for once have one mind and a mind of their own, and let them support the new bakery. It really appears to me that the more exorbitant the prices the business men charge the miners, the greater the affection entertained by them for the extortioners. I am, &c, Side Stojte.
