Slß,—-SpmQ paltry- scribbler, under tjie 'fictitious name ofL T. K. Johnston has freauently- assailed respectable men of this town, evidently with a view injure them in their busiiiess transactions. But that would bei no affair of mine only for the signature partly corresponding with my name, and consequently, through- misconception, the writing and authorship of these letters have be en attributed to me. As I had nothmg to dp with the matter I don't wish to Be the object of undeserved blame or unmerited praise.— I am, Sir, yours, &c„ Wm. JomrsTcor. [We have much pleasure in giving insertion to the above letter. ; We think; however, that oiu' present correspondent would have exercised a,wiser discretion had he confined his remarks to a simple denial of the authorship qf the. letter to which he refers, and had refrained from imputing dishonorable motives, or charging another with writing under an assumed namei simply because he does not happen to be acqriainted with him. We have yet to learn that the signature "Thomas Robert Jphnston " was' a fictitious one.—ED v m. i.c]
