Kirs I- prize in (lie "Lucky Star” Art Union, amounting to £2OOO, was won by .Mr. .J .Kishor, oi' Fendaltnn, Christchurch, when the art union was drawn at Wellington last evening. Second prize, of £SOO, went to It. Craig, Junr., of Geraldine, South Canterbury, and third prize, of £250, to -Jenny Linds, of 'lnvercargill. 2s r o one in Christchurch, so liis friends say, is more deserving of the first prize of £2OOO than Mr. .). Fisher, a labourer, emiployed in the Christehureli tramway workshops. Since he thought the art- union ticket he had been talkien seriously ill and there was some doubt whether he would be again able to clo a labourer’s strenuous work. He had not been able to save much during the best years of his life and had lately been greatly worried by the pro'speet of retirement, particularly when he- was faced with a bill lor doctor’s attention.
