WELLINGTON 'CONFERENCE UNIS UdOES S FU L. -The conference between the (laxinillers and representatives of (ho tlaxinillers held in Wellington on Saturday was not attended with any success. Those present were Alessrs Bishop, D. R. Ogilvy, G. Rough, E. Sutton, A. Fraser, IL Seifert, C. 11. S|peirs, J. 'S. Aloir, •find IT. Berry (representing the millers) and Alessrs Bromley, P. T. Robinson, Anderson and 'F. Shaw (representing the Alanawatu Flaxworkers’ Union). Tn conversation with our representative Air. F. Shaw stated that Jlie conference lasted all the afternoon and was carried out in the most friendly spirit. The conference was asked for by the Maim wain Flaxworkers’ Union executive when that body received the millers application for a sitting of the Arbitration Court, the executive considering that it would he much better if possible to arrive at an amicable arrangement Ilian to go to the Arbitration Court. Unfortunately no arrangement could be arrived at and as the Arbitration Court would now lie held in Palmerston North next Saturday Mr. Shaw staled that, it had been decided that all offers made at the conference or arguments advanced, hi* regarded as confidential until the ..case was heard. The discussion had been carried on in flu* most friendly spirit- and it had been a pleasure to attend, been a pleasure to attend such a conference. Tlie delegates from the Union reported on the result of the conference to the local men yesterday afternoon.
