Mount Greenlaw, one of the most formidable peaks in tlve Arthur s .Pass region, was climbed tor the first time last week by three members o£ the Christchurch Mountaineering Club, Messrs Edgar R. Williams, R. E. Clarke and Mclnnes. The peak, which is about 7500 ft. high, has resisted the challenges of alpinists for many years, its as- ; cent entailing some difficult rock and ice climbing. The ascent of the peak was made after the men had had to wait for several hours until ayalanches, caused by the melting snow, had ceased. From the top of Greenlaw u magnificent view was obtained.
