iCtOIMIPEEHBNISTVE STATEMENT. ( Dannevirke, Noy. 15. The Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, informed a “News” reporter that the Government is preparing ia comprehensive statement for presentation to the public of the provisions of the Unemployment Act. He was convinced, he said, that when the public thoroughly understood the provisions and intentions of the enactment the opposition to it—he admitted there was a good deal of opposition—would largely disappear. Tie was convinced that the measure was going to he of great assistance in alleviating unemployment.
Farmers would he able to secure moneys from the fund at a very low rate of interest for the purpose of carrying out extensive improvements with men at present unemployed. The Act, he was sure, was going to he a good thing for the taxpayers, because it would he a cheaper method of dealing with the situation* than was the present costly system of relief works.
