“The California Mail,” a title that speaks of action, thrills, and speed, has been booked for the Town Hail on Wednesday. Furthermore, the star of this picture is Ken Maynard, the screen’s greatest rider, so that audiences are assured the ultimate in entertainment with a combination of a great story and a great star. “The , California Mail” is a story of early California, when the Golden State was the “feeder” of gold into the c,lifers of the early Government. It brings in graphic detail the four stage coach lines operating under government franchise and carrying on. their mail, passenger and express transportation business., i Marion .Jackson, author of “The California Mail,” spent many weeks in searching for actual historical dkfca’ and unlike many stories of' this type found such a wealth of material, it was a ease of taking only the high lights. Director Albert Rogell and his camera- man, Dave Good, have some (marvellous scenic shots interbleuded with speed and action. The Kearn River country in California,. I annuls for its early-day history in the time of the gold rush, as well as its scenic beauty, was the location for “The (California Mail.” The part is made to order for Ken and Tarzan, and both run wild with more stunts' and tricks than ever shown before. With “Brunettes Prefer Gentlemen” (Comedy), and News. Glen Ttryou will be Saturday’s attraction in his latest laugh feature, “It Can Be Done.” Nothing is impossible to Glenn and his adventures in overcoming difficulties in his quaint and refreshing manner gives us one of the laugh successes of the year.
