FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETING.' A committee meeting of the Koxton United Sports Assosiation was held hi the Racing Club office on Thursday evening, presided over by Mr. W. T. Jewell (president). Also present were Messrs R. Bryant, D. Christie, AV. Ross, R. Warwick, J. Barber, 11. Hamer, M. E. Perrean, and the secretary (Mr. J. C. Christie). Apologies for absence were, received from G. Alexander, J. M. Thomson, J. Newton, \Y. E. and S. Barber.
MOTION OE SYMPATHY. ■ A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr. A. Broofke-Taylor junr. SUCICESSiEUL MEETING.
The balance-sheet in connection with the recent meeting was submitted which disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs. Iu commenting on the Association’s position, the president said that it had been particularly fortunate in connection with its last fixture. The weather had not been of tlie best, but despite this the attendance had almost equalled that .of previous years when good weather was experienced. He had no hesitation in saying that had the weather been more propitious the meeting would have proved a record and exceeded all expectations.
'f'lie balance-sheet was adopted and accounts amounting to £359 passed for payment. The president paid a line tribute to the work of the sierrutary during the past year and particularly /.in the filial rush and during the meeting. He had carried out his duties very creditably and efficiently.
Other members endorsed ' the president’s remarks in this connection. N.Z.A.C.U. BUSINESS. The N.Z.A.C.U. wrote enclosing a ballot paper on the question offixing' the location for the next annual conference, Morton and Christchurch being the two centres concerned, it was decided to vote in favour of holding the conference at Marlon. The Union also asked the Club’s opinion with regard to framing a rule to the effect that no iCiub should gain any pecuniary gain t iiiiii the sport and that in the event of the Club winding up any funds or assets to be made over ,<> public or district charitable institutions or applied for public reei'catioii grounds for the holding of sports for the beneiit of the general public. ~ The Association favoured such a rule which was already embodied in the local Association’s rules. GENERAL. ft was decided to write off the .oil Lap board and marker. it was also resolved to close the post Uilice having Bank account and place the money to the credit of the Association’s hank account. ft was decided to forward 2YA Broadcasting Station a letter of thanks for its assistance in advertising the meeting, and broadcasting weather conditions and the results of the racing.
\V. A. Thompson, of Auckland, wrote asking for a refund of his entrance money as owing to a breakdown in his engine he had been unable to attend the meeting. —Granted.
The Buxton Croquet Club wrote thanking the Association for the donation of a lawn marker. Received.
