Mr. C. B. Johnson, of the N.Z. Shipping Co., has been transferred, to Napier for the wool season and left Foxton to-day. .

Miss M. Hughes, who lias been spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. Ferguson, of Eangataua, lias returned home.

Mrs. Fairey junr., of Palmerston North, is spending a holiday in ißoxtou with her sister, Mrs. S. J. Harvey.

Mr. A. K. Drew, Manawatu County Council clerk, of Sanson, who recently underwent a. serious -operation, is making satisfactory • progress.

The friends of Mr. A. Ross will (regret to learn that he will possibly have to undergo a serious operation at an early date. He underwent an X-ray examination in the Palmerston North Hospital mi Thursday, hut returned home the, same day. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Barron will regret to learn that their daughter, Margaret, is at present an inmate of a private hospital in Palmerston North where, she recently underwent an operation. She is reported to be making good progress towards recovery.

Mesdnmes Spring and Nielsen aeled as hostesses at a most; successful function held in the Girl Citizens’ rooms, Broadway, Palmerston North, on Tuesday evening last, in honour of Miss Doris Morgan, whose marriage is to take place shortly. About (JO guests and friends of the young brideelect were present and an enjoyable evening was spent in dancing, games and competitions. Songs were contributed by Miss Doris Morgan and a duel; by the Misses Morgan, \vhile a recitation was pleasingly given by Miss M. Smith. After supper had been partaken of the guests of the evening was asked to accept; a large assortment of handsome gifts, for which Mr. W. .Morrison, the prospective bridegroom, on behalf of his bride-to-be and himself, expressed much appreciation.
