WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION. 'Wanganui, Nov. 1 L. At an adjourned meeting of. the Wanganui City Council, to-night, it. was decided to retrench 10 men of the outdoor staff, and that 07 men be asked to take three weeks’ leave without pav. The city engineer was instructed to bring down a report showing the number of outdoor men required to do actual maintenance work of the city, ami the minimum staff required to supervise it. OFFijCUALS NORM UNION. The official of the Wanganui .City Council formed themselves into a union last, evening. This action was the outcome of discussions by the 'City Council which proposed Lo cut officials’ salaries to baalnce the budget. This unipn is the only one of its kind.
