PAYING TAXATION BY PROMISSORY NOTES.
HELPING OVER HARD TIMES. That he had arranged with the Taxation Department to allow farmers to extend the time of payment uf taxation demands, was announced by Hon. E. A. Ransom, actingPrime Minister, when speaking at I lie Spring Show in Palmerston N. yesterday. He stated that the Government was realising the struggle that many farmers were having to malke ends meet this year. As a result of this arrangement, any fanner who desired to do so, could pay the demand by promissory note for two or three mouths, at ordinary bank rates of interest. (Applause). Voices: We will all do that. Hon. Ransom: You can pass on the good news.
