WEDDING.

STOKES —'WILLIAMS.

A quiet wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated at the I’reshyleriaa Manse, on Thursday evening by Rev. W-. 11. Nicholas, when C. L. Stokes, of Manawatu Heads, and late of Pakiatua, was united to Mrs. M. Williams, of Poxion. The bride was given away by Mr. Walter Kirkland and was attired in a navy satin frock relieved with touches of beige. She wore a beige hut with shoes and stockings to tone, and fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom. Her Victorian posey was of pale pink roses and anemones. Miss Hetty Skellon was in attendance as bridesmaid, daintily attired in a Jroeik of salmon pink crepe de chene ami wore a wreath of silver and pink llowcrs. She also carried a Victorian posey of shaded pink anemones. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. M. Conti olJy. At tiie conclusion of the ceremony the breakfast was held in Walls’ rooms where over thirty guests were entertained and the usual toasts and happy speeches made. Paring the evening musical items were rendered by Messrs W. Kirkland and J. Barratt and Miss V. Lovett and accompaniments played by Mrs. Kirkland, and Misses C. Walsh and P. Skellen.

The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a gold chain. 'flic liappv couple received numerous presents which included a (heqite from Mr. M. O’Malley. The posies were made by Mrs. T. Yardiey.

The happy couple left later in the eveiling on their honeymoon amidst a shower of confetti and on their return will taike up their residence at Manawatu Heads, Among those present were a number of Beach residents and also Mi’s. Sobey, of Levin, sister of Air. Stokes.
