PERSONAL.
Mr. C. F. Johnston, of Te Aroha, is paying a brief visit to Eoxtou. Mr. G. Mounsey, of Watson St., is at present an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, where he recently underwent an operation.
The friends of Mrs. E. Carmout, of Johnston Street, will regret to learn that as a result of slipping on a. polished floor at her home last evening, she sustained a broken arm near the wrist. She received medical attention, hut it was not found necessary for her to enter the hospital. The member of Parliament for Thames, Mir. A. M.. Samuel, announces that after having given the . matter (very close consideration he has decided not to seek re-election next year. Mr. Sainuel’s main reason is that he lias had a had recurrence of a trouble that necessitated 'an operation about eighteen months ago, and he fears that his health may not enable him to do justice to his large electorate. Mr. Samuel .proposes to go to London early in .the coining year to consult a specialist. ■
