At a meeting of committee held hist evening the matter of Clul) competitions for the current season was dealt with. TRUEMAN TROPHIES.
The conditions governing the pairs competition for the Trueman trophies were dealt with, and will he identical with those of the Thomson Trophies of last season — i.e., handicap, three qualifying rounds, sudden death for semifinals and finals —with the addition that the competition must ho completed before March 15tln Entrance fee .1/-, entries close on November thill. THOMSON AND WIILKORD CUPS.
This season a eup presented .by Mr. J. iM. Thomson (president) will tie competed for in conjunction with the Wilford. Clip. The details will he Singles competition; all matches to he umpired; entrance 1/-; entries close ItJth inst.; three qualifying rounds; handicaps; semi-linals on sudden death principle; competition to he completed hv I'Vlirita rv 28th. NYE PERNS. A great deal of discussion took place on the matter of the conditions governing Nye Perns matches. Some committeemen felt that llie present, conditions were irksome, and did. not. allow of the ’trophies being played for on other than Wednesdays. Ultimately the following conditions, proposed by Mr. Mattar, were adopted for one month’s’ trial, dating from November 1.2 th:—
(1) That all rinks shall he composed of two A and two B play-
(2) That any playing member constituting himself a skip for the purpose, be allowed to challenge the holders ■ under the following restrictions:—
(2) That challenges, with details of each rink and date be posted consecutively ill a book provided for the purpose, and he played in rotation, dates for matches to he decided by mutual arrangement. with the exception of \Vednesdnvs.
(4) (Wednesdays shall constitute compulsory playing days, play to commence at 2.15 p.m. (See Bale JO).
(5) In the event of the 'Challenging ■Kiiitk being not able to play on the Wednesday next following the date of posting the challenge, the rink next in rotation shall have the right to play (heir match on such Wednesday, wilhjout prejudice to the former challengers. (This condition applies only to Wednesdays).
(<>) Jn the event of the Holders’ rink not being all present on the dale agreed upon for the match (or oil a Wednesday) members of such rink shall have the right to substitute players, provided the rink so arranged shall contain two A and two B players, and that the players so chosen shall not have played for the trophies during the previous 14days.
(7) In the event of there being no member of the Holders’ rink present to defend the trophies on any Wednesday, then the challenging rink for that date shall automatically become the holders, and the next rinlk. following on the book become the challengers. (8) No player shall he included in any challenging rink until two clear Wednesdays have elapsed since last playing for the trophies (unless the enforcement of this rule shall prevent the proper constitution of a rink as in (1).
(!)) All members entering challenges shall, iu selecting teams, give consideration to players—particularly those graded B —who have- not previously been included in a rink.
(10) The foregoing conditions may be suspended temporarily by the Committee on any dates deemed advisable through inter-club fixtures, visits, etc.
(1.1) All members competing for the Nve Ferns must do so in the best sporting spirit* and all reasonable consul oration he allowed fellow members in the matter of opportunity for entering challenges—in short, give the other fellow a eliance.
