Mr. Kane, government Auditor, was in Poxton last week on Departmental business. Mr. Thomson snr., of Ashhurst, is visiting his son, Mr. J. M. Thomson, of Thynne Street. Mr. Pndel Wanktyn, of Taranaki, is on a holiday visit to Poxton, and is the guest of his aunt, Airs. R. Moore. The friends of Air. J. i\f. Thomson, of Thynne Street, will 'be pleased to learn that he is now making good progress towards recovery. Mr. K. W. Dairymple, of llangitikei, is on his way back to New Zealand after several months deer hunting in Alaska. Mr. McGregor, of Hastings, has now taken over his duties at the local Post Office. Mr. L. J, G. Carter, whom he replaces left for Wellington yesterday. The engagement is announced of Lorna, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. D. C. McD\ven, of Poxton, to John, eldest son of Mi’s. P. Prentice, of Jlunterville, and the late -John Mclntosh. Mr. H Read, of Newtown, Wellington, accompanied by his wife and married son and family, have taken up their, residence in Poxton. Mr. Reid and family used to reside here some years ago hut have since lived in New Plymouth and Wellington. A pleasant little function took place during choir practice at All Saints’ Church on Priday evening when on the occasion of her twenty-first birthday, members of Ihe -choir presented Miss Nancy Robinson with a Church Hymnary as a mark of appreciation 'of her services as honourary organist during the past two years. Messrs S. !H. Poole and W 1 Nye snr. (church wardens), were present and the presentation was made by Rev. W. H. Walton. Miss Robinson suitably acknowledged the gift and good wishes which accompanied it.
