The president said that the resignation would come as a serious
blow to the Clulb. Mr. Alsop had proved himself a real live secretary and so much depended on the secretary during the Club’s infancy. Mr. Alsop had carried out his duties with credit to himself and benefit to the Club.
'Mr. A. Alsop endorsed Mr. Perreau’s remarks and deplored the lose to the iClu'b of such an enthusiastic and capable, officer. The resignation was accepted with regret and it was decided to place on record the excellent services rendered the Club by Mr. Alsop while the best wishes of the members were extended to him in his new sphere of life. In acknowledging the remarks and good wishes of the speakers, Mr. Alsop expressed regret at having to sever his connectio'ns with the Club and said that he would always remain an honorary member of the Club. It was decided to forward letters of appreciation to the following for assistance during the past season : The Foxton Harbour Board, the Island Bay Surf Clulb, S. Austin, J. Robinson, H. Mitchell, S. J. Harvey, and the Press. A special vote of thanks was aoeolrded Mr. W. E. Alsop for the use of his car during last season. OPENING DATE. It was decided that the Club open the season on the second Sunday in November when a demonstration will be held on the beach.
The Club captain urged on the members their earnest co-operation in the coming season and thanked them for their support- during last year.
At the conclusion of formal business Mr. Collier addressed members on their duty as Life Saving Club members aml_their great responsibility while on the beach. Last season had witnessed one or two thrilling rescues and they would no doubt be called on for assistance during the coming summer months. In order to lie lit and keep lit for their great work they
should miss no opportunity to train so that when called upon they might be in readiness to avert a tragedy. They should realise that thev were a force in the community and take lo their work with a will. Personally lie was very proud to he a member of such a line Life Saving body as the Poxton Surf and Life Saving iC'luh. The president thanked Mr. Collier for his 'assistance and encouraging remarks and at the conclusion of the. meeting entertained the visitors and Club mclibers to supper.
