LORRY STRUCK BY TRAIN.
DRIVER CRAWLS UNHURT from: WRECK. Hawera, October 24. A remarkable escape from possible death was experienced at eleven o’clock this looming by William Greig, when a brewery motor loijrv he was driving was struck by the engine of an incoming yassenger train at a level crossing close lo the Ilawera station. The cowcatcher caught the rear portion of the lorry, turning it sideways and hauling it over the cattle-stop to crash on its side several yards up the line.
Mi'. Greig was not injured, exempt for a slight cut on the face. He crawled ■ unaided from the wreckage.
