SELF-INFLICTED WOUND

CAUSE OF LABOURER'S DEATH.

That deceased died from septic pneumonia following on a self-in-flicted 'wound, was the verdict of the coroner, Mr. A. J. Graham, at an inquest held in Palmerston N. yesterday on Norman Corbett Wheeler, who was found at Feilding on September 24 with his throat cut.

Evidence was given bv George Joseph Fitzpatrick as to having found the deceased. Wheeler, he said, when asked whether he had inflicted the wound himself, had nodded his head in affirmation. He was then asked: “Did you do it on a bottle?” to which he shook his head, but when asked if he had done it with a. knife he had again nodded. Wheeler was a man somewhat addicted to drink.
