PARLIAMENT.
A strong protest against any suggestion that the wages of the workers should ho reduced was voiced by a deputation representative of all sections of the Labour movement which limited upon the Alcting-Prime..,Minister (Hon. E. A.-Ransom) and the Minister of Labour (the HOll. S. G. Smith) yesterday. It. was argued that, in; stead of being reduced, wages should be increased in order to improve the purchasing, power of the people, and' thus bring about a greater consumption of. locallymanufactured goods. A request was a Iso made that a Commission should'-be set up to inquire into the cost of living. Careful consideration of the ease made out was promised by AH. Ransom.
