FLAXWORKERS MEET.
♦ DEPUTATION TO ACTING PRIME MINISTER. Yesterday (laxworkers to the number of one hundred odd met in the Town Hall supper-room where they were addressed by the Union secretary (Mr. P. T. Robinson). Admission was refused the Press but. after the meeting Mr. Robinson handed the following resolution passed at the meeting, to our representative : "Thai this meeting of the Maimwalu Elaxworkers* Union arrange for a deputation to wait upon the Acting Prime Minister, lhe Minister for Labour and the Minister for Industries and Commerce, urging the Government to immediately make available a subsidy to the llaxmilling industry and thus enable the tlaxmills to immediately commence operations and thereby relieve the very acute unemployment position." .Messrs P. Smith and F. S'haw were appointed to represent. Foxton when the deputation waited on the Ministers, and Messrs S. Anderson and R. Downes, Shannon. It is understood that no time will jbe lost in taking the deputation to /Wellington, and Mr. -I. Linklator, ALP., has been asked to make arrangements with the various Ministers to receive I lie deputation.
DEPUTATION NEXT THURSDAY. Mr. J. Link! a ter, ALP., lias arranged for a deputation representing the Flax-mill Employees' Union, Flaxmillers' Association, and (.liters to wait on the Acting-Prime Minister, Minister for Labour, and Minister for Industries and Commerce at noon on Thursday next.
