ACTIVE RESEARCH WORK. “The exact cause of yellow leaf in llax is not known,” said the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. A. J. Murdoch, wheat answering a question as to whether scientists had discovered the cause, origin or nature of tin* disease, asked by Mr. W. IT. Field (Ref., Otalki) in the House of Representatives. “So far no practical methods of dealing with the disease when it appears in llax swamps have been evolved,” continued the Minister. “The seriousness of the disease is fully recognised, and research work, /both with regard to its cause and its control, is being actively prosecuted by Massey Agricultural College, in close touch with the Department of Agriculture, funds being provided by the Department of ■Scientific and Indust,ial Research and by llaxrnilling interests.’’
