PRICE OF PETROL.

A rumour that an increase in the price of petrol by one penny a gallon had been suggested by the wholesale companies was referred to the Acting Prime Minister, Hon. E. A. Ransom, by Mr. W. •). Broadt'oot . (U., Wiaitomo), in an urgent question in the House of Representatives yesterday. Air. Broadfoot asked if the suggestion had come under the notice of the Government, and if the Acting Prime Minister would consider the setting up of a special committee of the House to inquire into petrol prices if it proved that the rumour were correct.
Mr. Ransom said he had not heard anything of an increase in petrol prices. He added that if this course were adopted by the companies the Government would give the matter consideration.
