AN DIES OF EXPOSURE
PARTY LOST IN FOG AND SNOW. Timaru, Sept 21. Tragedy attended a pig-hunting expedition of three men, George Coils table and Edward Johnston of Hillton, and Thomas Watts, of Christchurch, who left Neutzes Gully, ten miles from Geraldine, early on Saturday morning for the Blue Mountain. The party took a short cut when returning and were hopelessly lost in the fog and darkness. Snow commenced to fall, and the party decided to camp for the night. BeTween nine and ton Constable collapsed, and expired at live this morning. Johnston and .Watts went for assistance, and Watts injured his leg so Johnston proceeded alone, reaching the home of Air S. Neutze at 7.45. A message was sent to the police at Geraldine and search parties were arranged. Meanwhile Watts reached Neutze’s home. [Constable's body was recovered. He was a married man with four children.
