MONTHLY MEETING
The usual monthly meeting of the l-'oxtou l’limket Society was held in the Society’s rooms yesterday afternoon when there were present Mesdames W.. Trueman *(in the chair), D. Christie, Bain, A. Boss, Edwards, Adams, .1. Marlin, M. E. Perreau, and the secretary (Mrs. D. R. Barron). An apology for absence was received from the president (Mrs. E. Robinson).
The nurse’s report showed that 107 visits had been recorded tor the month of August. The resignation of Mi". I. Corn from the Advisory Board was ae- < epled with regret and it was decided to write Mr. Corn thanking him for his. efforts on behalf of the Society during his stay in Paxton.
At the conclusion of the business tenders' were opened in connection with the ptoopbseld erection of 1-’Junket Rooms. The lowest tender was £60!) which was £IOO more than the Society had in its building fund.
Members expressed disappointment at the highness of the tenners which precluded them from going on with the proposed build-
A suggestion that an effort be made to raise the extra amount necessary was not adopted as members considered that the time was by no means opportune for such a proposal. ft was decided not to accept any tender and the work will now have to be held over until such time as the balance: necessary can be found.
