FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

('< )M:MI TTEE MEETING. A committee meeting- -of the FoxImi Horticultural Society was held in Ross's rooms last evening, presided over by Mr. D. Chrislie (President). Also present were Mesdames E. J. Murphy, and R. Owen, Miss A. Speirs, Messrs W. 11. Nicholas, T. Hughes, -It. Tlorniblow, .las. Ross, X. -Chess well, Robinson and the secretary (Air. E. J. Murphy). Miss Wyber wrote regretting her inability to judge the needlework section at the forthcoming show and Mr. B. TI. .Just intimated that he would be unable to judge the out blooms. Mrs. Gray was appointed judge in connection with the needlework section and Mr. Gibson judge vice Mr. -lust. The Power Board wrote in connection with the amount donated for special electrical cooking- seclion at the next show noting that the Society had divided the amount, into a n mil her of small amounts -and expressing- the opinion that one or two substantial prizes would have proved a bigger attraction. The Board was quite prepared to leave lhe mutter to the Society however. ft -was decided not to make any alteration in this connection, members considering that it would be better to offer a number of smaller prizes than allocate the whole amount lo one or two prize winners.

The l-j'oxton Amateur Athletic-and Cycling Club wrote asking permission to conduct a competition at lhe show to raise funds for the con-

struction of the cycling track on Easton Park. After discussion it was decided to withhold permission as the -Society was arranging <a competition for the show to assist ils own fina noes. The appointment of door keepers and committees to attend to the preparation and clearing of the hall were arranged and details in connection with the show finalised.
