FATAL COLLISION.
PILLION RIDER KILLED
Riding on the pillion seat of a motor-cycle, Waller Pederson, of Wellington, was fatally injured when the machine was struck by a taxi-car about 5.30 on Thursday evening. The taxi, driven by Byron Maurice Barclay, was proceeding up Rugby .Street, when it struck the molor-cycle with a severe impact as the ialter was travelling- along Tasman Street, in a southerly direction. The rider ,of the motorcycle was Sohvyn Morris' Bingham, married, who lives at 82 Constable Street. Tie is employed in the coal yard of Samuel Brown, Ltd., where his companion also worked.
Immediately after the accident both men were taken to the Public Hospital by the driver of the taxi. Mr Pederson died shorlv after admission, from severe head injuries. Although suffering from shock and abrasions to liis face and knees, the other man was discharged Infer m the evening, after having received medical attention. Neither of the vehicles was exlensivoly damaged, the cycle having its front wheel considerably buckled. The accident occurred just after 5.30 p.m.
