PERSONAL.

Mr E. G. Sutherland, of the literary stall of the N.Z. Truth, Auckland, accompanied by Mrs Sutherland, was a visitor to Foxton yesterday. Mr and Mrs Sutherland are making a tour of the North Island. Mr Sutherland was wellknown locally some years ago, and was on the staff of this journal. When resident in Foxton he took a keen interest in all braclies of sport, and formed the Foxton Rugby Sub-union.

His Excellency, the GovernorGeneral, Lord Bledisloe, accompanied by his aide-de-camp, Sir John Hanham, arrived in Palmerston North yesterday on an unofficial visit. The Governor-General visited Massey College this morning and the races this afternoon. Lord Bledisloe will pay an unofficial visit to the Boys’ Flock House at Bulls on Monday, and will later return to Wellington.
