BOWLING
At Thursday evening's meeting of the Commit lee of t lie Fox-ton Bowling Club a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Air. Francis Robinson and the late Mr. IChas. Spring was passed, The president referred to the past connection of these deceased gentlemen with the (Jlii h. In respect of the late Mr. Spring, who was actively connected with the Club during almost the whole of its existence, it was reported that an artilicial wreath had been placed on his grave on behalf of Club members, with an appropriately worded card enclosed.
SHANNON CLUB
The annual meeting of the Shannon Howling Club was held iu the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening. There- was a good attendance of members, the president (Air. A. Blackwood) presiding. Finance. —The receipts for the year from all sources (including cash in Bank nt 20/7/1029) amounted to £155 2/0, and the expenditure to £152 17/2, leaving a credit balance at the Bank of £2 15, I. The assets amount to £lO 5/ltl, and (lie liabilities to £5 ({/-, jetiving a balance of £l3 10/10.
Membership.— Seventeen new members were elected and three ,signed. The membership now -lands at -Hi. made up of 42 active members, 2 life members, 1 country moeber and 1 eommoreinl traveller. Outstanding subscriptions amount to JUi 5/-, made up by 2 active members and 1 country member. .Five locker fees are also outstanding. A! the beginning ~f tin* season Air. W. FI. Gauming, a pioneer of the Club, was elected to the status of a life member.

Opening Day. —ft was decided that the date of opening be left to the deneral Committee, with a recommendation that it be on a Wednesday.
