The Mayor said il would be impossible to grant Ihe use of the hall immediately as suggested and possibly not at all on a Saturday night. 'The hall was governed by a commit ice and he could not promise the tree use of the hall and a picture programme. Expenses had to he met bill be fell safe in saying • hat if ihe committee guaranteed • tie sale of tickets dice would be ‘•■(-I generously by the Hall commit tee.

The men are to work one week for nothing. If the Local men adopt Mr Thomson’s suggestion it will show that they are prepared to give a -hand. ,

Air C. Henderson thought that a minimum should be fixed. A man might work only two or three days if. the week when a third would then come too much. Air Perreau suggested that unless a man worked three days in the week no levy be made. Air J. B. Coley: What about Air Thomson f AVI 11 he give a third? Air Perreau: That’s hardly a fair question. Mr Thomson has already donated half a ton of coal. He is an employer of labour, and is willing to assist. This is for wage earners only. Air 'Thomson: I’m prepared to pay my share. (Applause).
