Miss Amy Johnson lias sailed from .Freemantlc for England by the Naldera.

Mr. Anderson, of the Presbyterian Social Welfare Society, is at present visiting Foxton.

The friends of Mr.• R. T. Betty, will be pleased to learn that lie is able to get about again after his recent accident. He is making excellent progress towards recovery.

Mr. S. Dudson, who recently underwent a serious operation in the 1 'aimers! on North Hospital has returned home again.

•Sympathetic, reference to the death of Mr. F. Robinson, formerly a member for the Carnarvon riding, was made at Tuesday’s meeting- of the Manawata County Council. The chairman, Mr. W. E. Barber, said that the late Mr. Robinson had been born, bred and had lived his life in the country. He was a gentleman of excellent: reputation, and had done his duty in local body work. It was. decided to forward a letter of sympathy to the bereaved family. i

The death occurred at his residence, Bine 'Street, Master-ton, on Friday, of William Hawke at the age of 74 years. The late Mr. Hawke, who had -been in indifferent health for some time, was horn iii Lower Hutt, hut had been a resilient of Mastertoii for 48 years. Deceased was a soil of Ihe late. Mr. and Mrs. John Hawke, early settlers of (troytown, and came over the Rimutakas as a baliy with bis parents mi horseback. He was one „f a family of 13. He leaves a widow and a family of four —Mrs. M. Maguire (Greytown), Miss M. Hawke, Arr. W. E .Hawke (Waitara), and Airs. !C.
