BOOKMAKER FINED £250.
Waimate, June 17. “I do not propose to send defendant to prison though that is going’ to be considered by the Courts if bookuwking is not .stopped by substantial fines,” said Magistrate C. R. Grr-Walker in lining Richard Yesberg, billiard saloon keeper, £250 in default three months. The Magistrate remarked that it was not denied that Yesberg had been carrying on bookmaking in a big way for six years.
