fl’he m,v. Foxton sailed yesterday for the South, after bringing 2(111 tons of merchandise in from Lyttelton.

A glance inside the Harbour Board shed on Wednesday would have been enough to convince even the most sceptical that the port of Foxton could serve a very useful purpose to this district if it was only given a fair share of patronage. The Foxton arrived in port over night with a full cargo and by daylight the following morning the shed was filled to capacity with grain and general merchandise from the South Island and all day Ihe building presented a hive of induslry, employees being busily engaged in transferring the contents of Ihe shed into trucks in the shed siding. The m.v. Foxton is running regularly and well, but another similarly const meted boat, as Mr. W. E. Burlier has pointed out, would be Ihe means of placing the Foxlon Harbour Board on a paying basis. /
