GOLF.
A meeting of the Herrington Golf Club was held on Thursday evening when eight new members were elec-, led. An invitation was received from Bulls Club to play a match at Bulls to-day but owing to previous arrangements, it, was decided to ask the Club to nominate another date. The question of holding a golf ball was discussed It it t was bold over. for a future meeting. A few remarks on “golf etiquette" will be addressed to members in the golf house mi Saturday next by Mr M. B. Borgia.
Owing la the large increase in membership this vein - , particularly amongst lady golfers, and the resultant i-iuigest ion mi the local links at the week-end causing danger to players, Lhe Committee has found it necessary to close the membership list of lady players except as far as ex-members and the wives of presold members are concerned. This state of affairs, though i egrettable, speaks volumes for the popularity of the game and il is hoped that at a future date the links will be extended and nlhcr r.r.ispoel ivo members will be enabled 1" indulge in the Royal and Au-i-ieiit pastime.
