BOA RD IIEVTEWiS PROPOSED AMENDMENTS.

A meeting in the interests of drainage anil river protection was field in Palmerston North on Thursday, when the executive of the New Zealand Land Drainage Board met to. consider the proposed Land Drainage and River Protection Bill, which is to he introduced at llie ue.xi session of Parliament.

The Bill, circulated for revision by the Minister of Internal Affairs, ihe lion. P. A. de In. Perrelle,' was taken clause by clause and, in the main, the Act was considered satisfactory although certain minor amendments were lira fled.

These, together with other suggestions, will in due course be formula led and submitted to the Minister. If necessary a deputation will wait on the Minister and (leparlmental officers fully In discuss Ihe alterations.

When flic association was formed in May, 1027, if began to agitate lor consolidation and simplification of the legislation under which drainage boards function. The existing Act and its amendments v. ere considered scarcely workable, especially when litigation was involved.
