A KINDLY ACT.
A Dunedin citizen relates an experience that may stand as an example of the late Air. W. A. Kennedy's efficiency and consideration as traffic manager of the Union Company (states the “'Star”). About thirty-three years ago, when by ordinary pians it would take four days or perhaps more to travel from Dunedin to Auckland, Ibis man was summoned to the northern city to see his mother, who was dangerously ill. It: was early on a Good Friday morning that: the call came. He saw Mr. Kennedy, who urgently inquired by wire as to how I lie tide would serve at New Plymouth, and then arranged to detain the Taknpnua ai Lyttelton till the Friday’s train arrived there.
