CRUSHED TO DEATH BY TRACTOR.
YOUNG WOMAN’S TRAGIC END. Te Awainufu, Last Night. Francis Elizabeth Jary, aged 21, eldest daughter of Frank Jary, farmer, was killed instantly this afternoon as the result of a tractor overturning. Alias .Tnrv was assisting her father in a recently ploughed field in trailing a harrows behind a tractor. It is surmised the harrows caught a piece of timber, causing the tractor to overturn backwards and crushing the driver. Though several men were working in the paddock the accident was not witnessed, the first attention to it arising through the fact that the. engine had stopped. The. tractor was then noticed with its front wheels in the air. When extricated, the girl was holding the steering' wheel and the brake lover was in the normal driving position. Her death had been instantaneous.
The tractor was working on fint country and there was no apparent cause for the accident, other than a short piece of timber near the ha l't'ows.
